All the spillway gates of Larji Dam situated in Mandi district would be opened by the Dam authorities on June 25 and 26th from 6 am to 6 pm for clearing silt deposit.
Senior Executive Engineer of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) Thalot, Ajay Thakur has alerted , “ People living between Larji Dam and Pandoh Dam and those travelling on this patch of Chandigarh – Manali National Highway ( Kullu – Manali Rood ) should restrain from going near the Dam or River Beas.”
He has appealed to tourists, “Not to venture near the River as water level would suddenly rise to a dangerous level after the opening of the spillway gates ”
The HPSEBL authorities would sound an alarm and also make announcements in the area to alert people not to take any risk.
It is notable 25 engineering students from Hyderabad (Telangana) including their guide trying to click pictures in the river were washed away near Larji Dam in 2013 after release of water from the Dam.
