Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flagged off four vehicles to be used for rescue operations and quick response in the event of any natural calamity or emergency during winters in the tribal district of Lahaul –Spiti.
Four Gurkha jeeps donated by the ICICI Foundation under CSR would be quite helpful for quick response to move in snow bound areas.
The CM said , “The vehicles would be effective in the tribal areas where temperature go down to minus 30 degrees as the Mercedes engine fitted jeeps can be driven in adverse climatic conditions like flash floods and avalanches, quite common in the tribal areas, to rescue people and send immediate help .”
Lahaul – Spiti MLA Ravi Thakur has thanked the CM for providing the jeeps and addressing the issue taken up by him with the CM during his Spiti tour.
