Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has asked the electric vehicle manufacturers (EVMs) to develop the state specific electric buses keeping in mind hilly terrain, loading capacity, luggage space and incorporating modern technology to ensure safety of passengers.
In a meeting with the representatives of the EVMs on Thursday at Shimla he said, “To achieve the goal of making Himachal Pradesh a Green Energy State by 2025 and to reduce the carbon emission, the state government is planning to replace the diesel buses of HRTC with the EVMs.”
The CM said, “A committee headed by Chief Secretary is being constituted to chalk out modalities and specifications for the EVMs to be used in the state as the state government is making efforts to preserve the environment.”
“The state government is also planning to make Parwanoo-Nalagarh and Una-Hamirpur-Nadaun-Dehra highways as clean and green corridors of the state,” he added.
Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, OSD to Chief Minister Gopal Sharma, Managing Director HRTC Sandeep Kumar and Director Transport Anupam Kashyap also attended the meeting.
