As per revised voting percentage, 75.6 percent polling was recorded in the Himachal Assembly election on Saturday.
Chief Electoral Officer of the state Maneesh Garg said , “ The polling percentage as per revised data has been recorded 75.6 percent (EVM 74.6 percent and one percent through postal ballots); the figure would increase further as 2 percent postal ballots are yet to be counted .”
He said, “The highest polling percentage of 85.25 percent was reported from Doon Assembly Constituency and the lowest polling percentage of 62.53 percent was recorded in Shimla City Assembly Constituency.”
He said, “The state election department had laid special emphasis on increasing the voter turnout in the present polls where low turnout was witnessed in the last Assembly Election by voter awareness campaign in eleven constituencies and polling percentage has increased in all these constituencies.”
The CEO said, “The total males in the electorate were 2788925, the female voters were 2736306 and the third gender voters were 38. Out of these, the total percentage of male population who exercised their franchise was 72.4 and that of females was 76.8 percent, besides the third gender poll percentage was 68.4 percent”.
He said,” The strong rooms have been sealed with a 3-tier security system and the scrutiny has been completed in the presence of Observers of ECI, candidates or their representatives and ROs”.
The CEO said, “Due to effective enforcement agencies, especially Income tax, state excise and police departments including expenditure monitoring teams Rs 60 crore was seized till the polling day on November 14.”
