All houses in Una, Chamba, Kinnaur and Lahaul – Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh have been provided with Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) and the state has achieved 93.05 percent target under Jal Jivan Mission.
A spokesman of the state government said , “ So far 24 blocks, 2331 panchayats, 14661 villages have been covered under the mission and 8.44 lakh houses have been provided drinking water during two and half years for which a sum of Rs 4418.37 crore has been allocated by the Central Government, including an incentive of Rs 1,028.43 crore.”
In Kinnaur district 411 habitations having 22763 houses have been covered under the scheme and out of 219 schemes 155 have been completed, in Lahaul – Spiti 364 habitations having 7284 houses have been provided drinking water . The villagers of Tashigang, the highest village located at 15256 feet, have also been provided with tap water.
In Chamba district, which has been selected as one of the aspirational districts of the country by NITIO Aayog , tribal sub divisions of Pangi and Bharmour have also been covered under the mission and Rs 420 crores are being spent to complete 265 schemes . All 121752 households in the district have been given FHTC.
Similarly, in Una district also 15 schemes with fund allocation of Rs 196 crore are being implemented and 115949 houses have been provided with tap water under the mission.
The spokesman said, “The quality of drinking water in the state has been found best in the country as per quality check conducted by a water testing agency.”
