Himachal Pradesh is likely to become as first state in the country meeting its entire requirement of energy through Renewable and Green Energy.
Giving this a thrust Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has made a statement in his Budget Speech to minimize dependence on thermal power and phase it out by 2034.
At present the state is using 12000 Million Units Power every year and out of this thermal power is only 2000 Million Units, the government is making a determined effort to reduce dependence on thermal power.
Even Prime Minister Narender Modi at Glasgow Summit on Climate Change had confirmed Country’s commitment to increase non-fossil fuel by 50 Gigawatt by 2030.
The state is making efforts to transform to Green Energy and phase out its obligation to purchase thermal power by taking this issue at different forums.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has taken up this issue with the PM to make the state as the first state using Green Energy.
