Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has acclaimed the collaborative efforts of the people of the state as Shimla city has earned top position in the country in Urban Development Goals Index 2021-22, released by NITI Ayog recently.
Congratulating the people of the state on this occasion Thakur said, “An index of the NITI Ayog of Government of India has included fifty six cities, with forty four cities having population of more than ten lakhs and capitals of twelve states having population less than ten lakhs under the survey.”
He said, “The index has been prepared assessing the performance in programmes for poverty alleviation, health, education, gender equality, providing affordable and clean energy and action on climate protection.”
As many as forty six targets and seventy seven indicators were fixed for the evaluation of this ranking and Shimla city got the best position with 75.50 marks on the scale of 100.
CM said, “Although majority population of India lives in villages but cities also play an important role in the development of the country, the NITI Ayog has developed a dashboard for collecting data regarding sustainable development goals urban index with GIZ and BMZ under Indo German development Cooperation.”
