Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur appreciated the role of doctors in mitigating the pain and suffering of the society. In his virtual address on the National Doctors’ Day on Thursday from Thunag in Mandi district the CM said , “ Doctors not only help the patients in minimizing pain and relieving them from disease they help in saving several precious lives.”
Thakur said, “This Day is observed every year as the National Doctors Day to commemorate the anniversary of Dr Bidhan Chander Ray, former Chief Minister of West Bengal and prominent physician for his contribution in the medical field.”
He said, “This year’s National Doctors Day is dedicated to all doctors and healthcare workers who have been serving the people round the clock even risking their lives during COVID-19 pandemic and to acknowledge the doctors’ contribution is saving lives.”
Thakur said, “The state government is committed to strengthen health infrastructure in the threat of third wave of Corona virus and has enhanced bed capacity to five thousand beds, eight PSA plants have been established and 28 such plants would be set up by August 15, besides construction of buildings in medical college Nahan, Hamirpur and Chamba.
He expressed hope the doctors in the state would keep on performing their duties with dedication and commitment for making Himachal as the state with best medical facilities in the country.
Health Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal thanked the Chief Minister for successfully guiding the state during the testing time of Covid-19 pandemic on this occasion.
Chairperson of Hospital Welfare Section of HP State Red Cross Society and wife of the Chief Minister Dr Sadhna Thakur was also present on this occasion among other dignitaries.
