With the spurt in COVID-19 cases in Himachal the state government has put a complete ban on organising Dhams (community feasts) during marriages and other functions in the state.
After a review meeting held at Shimla on Thursday presided over by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, the CM said, “A sharp increase in Covid-19 cases in the state is a matter of concern and to check the pandemic social gatherings in marriages has been restricted to twenty persons, to keep all educational institutions and temples closed till May 10, restrict strength of class III and class IV employees in government offices to fifty percent and introduce five day week.”
He said , “ Steps are being taken to increase bed capacity in Kangra, Shimla , Solan, , Una , Mandi and Sirmour districts , enhance testing capacity and a system is being evolved to regulate entry of people coming to state .”
Thakur said, “Four committees have been constituted to provide logistic support, monitor availability of oxygen and enhance bed capacity, ambulance management and to ensure coordination/ contribution.”
Jai Ram Thakur has urged the Union Health Minister to provide 5000 D-Type and 3000 B-Type oxygen cylinders to ensure smooth supply of oxygen in hospitals.
