The Golden Jubilee function to celebrate Fifty Years of statehood of Himachal Pradesh was organised with great enthusiasm and fervour throughout the state on Monday. The state level function was held at the historic Ridge, Shimla while functions were held in all districts.
Governor Bandaru Dattatreya was the chief guest in the state level function and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur a special guest; national president of BJP Jagat Prakash Nadda and Union Minister of state for Finance Anurag Thakur also graced the occasion.
Congratulating people of the state on this occasion the Governor said, “A small hill state like Himachal has made extraordinary development during the last 50 years; dedicated leadership, strong will power and hard work of the people of the state have established new milestones of development”.
He said, “By giving priority to education, health, roads, electricity, water, social security and tribal welfare, the state has achieved socio-economic goals to emerge as model in the country and soldiers from the state have always been in the forefront in defending the country; the first PVC was conferred to Major Somnath Sharma and recently to Captain Vikram Batra; rich culture, traditions and values of life are still alive in this hill State.”
The Governor expressed hope with the hard work of the people and the strong leadership the state would achieve new heights.
Addressing on this occasion J P Nadda said, “ We all are fortunate to witness this occasion; though developing a hilly state was a an arduous task but the farsighted leaders and hard working people converted the challenges into opportunities to carry steady growth in every field.”
Paying tributes to first Chief Minister Dr Y.S. Parmar and lauding his contribution in formation and developing the state , Nadda also mentioned all formers CM’s i.e. Virbhadra Singh, Shanta Kumar, Thakur Ram Lal and Prem Kumar Dhumal for their contribution to Himachal.
He said, “Today the State can boast of six medical colleges, an AIIMS, PGI satellite centre, a super speciality hospital and status of a special category state by PM Modi and unique projects like Atal Tunnel are contribution of the BJP government which would convert the state into a most developed state.”
Congratulating the people on this occasion Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also lauded the efforts of the former Chief Ministers who despite the geographical and other constraints steered this hilly state to a front runner state with the support and hard work of people.
Thakur said the State is fortunate to have benevolence of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who gave industrial package to develop the state as an industrial hub and aid to provide extensive road connectivity.
He said, “The state government has decided to celebrate the Golden Jubilee by organising 51 programmes throughout the year in which wider participation of people would be ensured, besides honouring people who contributed in development of the state in different spheres.”
Talking about various achievements, Thakur said, “The per capita income in state had reached over Rs 1, 90,500, 4118 health institutions are functioning against 587 in 1970 and Him care scheme has been launched to benefit people not covered under Ayushman Bharat Yojna to give them health cover; 4.63 families are registered under the scheme, besides starting other schemes and investment of Rs 96720.8 cores has been invited through Global Investor’s Meet.”
Minister of state for Finance Anurag Thakur also congratulated the people on this occasion. A theme song and a documentary Himachal Tab Aur Ab was also screened, a postal stamp was also released on the occasion.
