Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated Court of Civil Judge –cum- JMIC Thunag in Seraj Assembly Constituency on Wednesdays in the presence of Justice L Narayana Swami Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh Court.
Addressing a public meeting at Thunag after the inauguration ceremony Thakur said, “Providing speedy justice to people near their homes in a cost-effective manner is essential for a better and vibrant society and it is a historic day for the area as a civil court has become functional here.”
He said, “Till now people of the area had to travel long distance and spend money and time to go to Mandi to seek justice but now nearly fifty thousand people would get benefitted from the court which has been set up with active cooperation from Himachal Pradesh High Court and soon judicial complex would be constructed here.”
Thakur said, “During early times most of the disputes were settled amicably at local level but with the urbanization mutual trust and dialogue is eroding and people are knocking doors of the courts to settle disputes and easy approach to courts has become a necessity; people have deep faith in courts and judiciary has also upheld this faith.”
Thakur also congratulated newly elected members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies and asked them to concentrate on development in their respective areas.
Justice L. Narayana Swami said, “Our Constitution mandates to provide speedy justice to all citizens near their homes and through mobile Courts, Lok Adalats and Gram Adalats speedy and cost-effective justice is being given to people; the Court at Thunag would go a long way in achieving the desired results,” he added.
Justice Sureshwar Thakur, District and Session Judge RK Sharma, DC Mandi Rugved Thakur and several other dignitaries were present on this occasion.
