The higher reaches of tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh in Lahual – Spiti and Chamba districts have been experiencing snowfall for the past few days plummeting the night temperature substantially in these areas.
The Rohtang pass, the Baralacha pass, the Kunjam pass and Junskar areas in Lahual – Spiti have been covered under the thick blanket of snow bringing the temperature under minus degree in these areas.
Similarly, tribal areas of Pangi, Bharmaour etc have also been experiencing snow for the past few days bringing down the temperature considerably.
A resident of Keylong, Sher Singh has told, “Snowfall is continuing on the higher reaches of Lahual- Spiti district and main passes like the Rohtang pass, Kunjam, Baralacha and Junskar range have been experiencing snowfall for the past few days, which is still continuing.”
The snowfall on the higher reaches of tribal areas have started early winter chill in the entire Himachal Pradesh and as per information from metrological department Shimla the temperature in the hilly region of the state has been brought down by at least 6 degrees.
Despite the temperature in Lahual- Spiti the residents are continuing their routine work of harvesting potato, peas and apple crops as with the beginning of early winter snowfall can be witnessed in the district anytime affecting the harvesting activity adversely.
The meteorological center Shimla has predicted rain and snow in several areas of the state till October 8.
