Several villages of Mandi district have been severally affected by the diarrhea as many people are now being shifted to Lal Bahadur Shashtri Medical College , Nerchowk and zonal hospital Mandi during the past few days.
Chief Medical officer (CMO) Mandi has sent teams to the affected villages to help the villagers and distribute medicines. Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) department officials are also checking quality of drinking water in the affected village, besides taking measures to supply clean drinking water to the villagers.
As many as 26 new patients have been identified suffering from the diarrhea in Saeraj area from where several people have reportedly been taken ill.
CMO Mandi Dr Jiva Nand Chuahan said “We have sent teams to the affected villages and teams are giving medicines after carrying health examination; there is adequate supply of medicines at the primary health centers and dispensaries and some of the patients are being shifted to Nerchok medical college.”
Assistant Engineer of IPH department RK Sharma said, “Our department has sent teams to Chabahd, Shah, Dhagwanhan, Kufri and few other villages to draw water smaples to check quality of water and ensure supply of clean potable water.”
The health experts said, “Drinking water contamination is quite common during the monsoon season and people should take all precaution to drink boiled water, not to eat stale food maintain proper hygiene.”
