Six women were burnt to death and fourteen others injured at Bathu under Haroli sub division of Una district of HP on Tuesday morning after a reported blast resulting in massive fire in an illicit fire cracker factory.

SP Una Arijit Sen said, “Six women were burnt to death and 14 others have received serious burn injuries in the fire incident at about 10 am on Tuesday morning in an illicit fire cracker factory run under the garb of a weighing machine (dharamkanta).”

“Ten of the seriously injured have been admitted in the PGIMER Chandigarh and others are under treatment at Regional Hospital Una,” he added.

The factory was reportedly being run by some people from Punjab who managed to escape after the incident and no arrest has been made so far. 

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has expressed grief over the tragic incident and has ordered a Divisional Commissioner level inquiry. He has announced to give Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased, Rs 15000 each to those undergoing treatment in the PGIMER and Rs 5000 each to those having treatment at Regional Hospital Una.

Meanwhile ADM Haroli has started investigation in the case.
