The arrest of decorated HP cadre IPS officer Arvind Digvijay Negi by The National Investigating Agency (NIA), who worked for the agency since its inception, on the allegations of supplying sensitive information to terrorist organization Lashkar Toiba over ground workers, has put the HP Police in a tight spot.

Negi, posted SP recently, was also a member of SIT formed by the DGP investigating an adulterated liquor case after the death of seven persons at Slappar.

It is quite surprising the officer like Negi, winner of many awards, medals and known for his investigating skills has been arrested under the most appalling section 21 of the IPC (inciting war against the state), corruption and other charges.

The officer came under the radar of the NIA on tips from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and during investigation of over ground workers linked with LeT.

The NIA in its official statement after his arrest said, “It was found Negi leaked official secret documents to another accused person and overground worker of LeT.”

Negi, while working with the NIA was involved in several sensitive cases including terrorists funding in J&K to launch terrorist activities.

Though the NIA investigation would bring out the truth, HP Police has come under a tight spot after his arrest.
