A first case of omicron variant of COVID-19 virus has been identified in the state. A government spokesman said, “Seven samples were sent for WGS omicron variant out of which one sample has been tested positive; a 45 female from Mandi district has been detected with the virus.”
He said , “ The lady had received both doses of COVID-19 Vaccine , has a travel history from Canada and arrived in Delhi on December 3, her sample was sent for WGS and tested positive for the omicron virus on December 26; three primary contacts have been traced in this case but tested negative .”
The health experts advise people not to panic and follow COVID appropriate behaviour; wear a face mask, maintain social distance and wash their hands frequently.
