The incident of manhandling between SP Kullu Guarav Singh and CM’s security staff at Kullu on Wednesday in the presence of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur during visit of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari is a poor reflection on Himachal Police.

The incident occurred when the Union Minister on his arrival today stopped to receive a memorandum from four lane affected people regarding their demands related to land compensation before heading towards Manali.

As soon as the vehicle of the Union Minister went off a police official from CM’s security reportedly questioned the SP about security arrangements during the minister’s tour and how people were allowed to stand on the way which infuriated the SP who slapped him. As a reaction CM’s security officer ASP Brijesh Sood also reportedly hit the SP. Unfortunately, this happened when CM was heading to join the entourage of the Union Minister.

Taking serious note of the incident Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has asked the DGP police Sanjay Kundu to take strict action after an inquiry. The DGP has sent SP Kullu to Mandi central range and given the charge of SP Kullu to DIG Central Range Madhusudan Sharma.

Two police officers from the CM security staff i.e. ASP Brijesh Sood and Balwan Singh have been sent to police headquarters. DIG Madhusudan has been asked to conduct an inquiry in the whole incident.

  1. It was very surprising at such a moment. It could be discussed after some time and SP could be taken to task. But the same Police never show quickness in handling many sensitive situations.
