Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has directed the medical fraternity and administration in districts to plan in advance for combating the likely third wave of COVID-19 in the state.

Interacting with DCs, SPs, Principals and Medical Superintendents of Medical Colleges and CMO’s Thakur said, “The health experts have warned of third wave of COVID-19 which may hit children and health officials and district administration should lay more emphasis on strengthening pediatric wards and improving other facilities; besides exploring possibility of vaccinating expecting mothers.”

CM said, “With support from every quarter the state government has been able to successfully overcome the first wave and meeting the challenge of second wave but we would have to be extra cautious as the pandemic is not over and casual approach in any manner can be fatal and thus keeping vigilant is need of the hour.”

 He said, “Information, education and communication drive is very important for sensitizing masses and elected members of local bodies can help in making people aware about the virus.”

CM said, “Efforts should be made to de-notify dedicated COVID hospitals  and release private hospitals with no patients to start normal OPDs and treatment there and strategy of testing, tracing and treatment of patients should be adopted,.”

He also directed the health authorities to ensure adequate supply of oxygen in hospitals and monitor the health of people in home isolation.

Thakur said, “It is not possible to continue ongoing restrictions for long and in case the situation improves the state government would consider relaxing the corona curfew.”
