PMGSY is a programme funded by the Central government to provide road connectivity to villages having a population of more than two hundred and fifty people.

As many as six more districts of Himachal Pradesh have also secured positions among the top thirty performing districts, which include Chamba, Shimla, Kangra, Una, Sirmour, Hamirpur and Solan. Himachal Pradesh has also improved its performance under PMGSY programme by constructing 1104 Kilometers roads this year from April to October.

Appreciating the role of the PWD the CM said, “It was a real challenge to build roads in the wake of COVID -19 pandemic as availability of labour and machinery was severely affected due to long countrywide lockdown but maximum length of roads were built during this period in Himachal Pradesh because of regular monitoring by Principal Secretary PWD JC Sharma and effective resource mobilization by the department.”
