Probe into alleged irregularities and charges of “nepotism and favouritism”  against  former Director of National Institute of Technology ( NIT) Hamirpur Prof. Vinod Yadav ,initiated by Union Ministry of Human Resource Development ( HRD)  has begun .

The Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Dr Anil Sahsbudhe had started the probe after reaching the NIT campus on Tuesday and is still continuing the process.

Registrar of NIT Hamirpur Dr Yogesh Gupta said , “ Dr Sahsbudhe has taken all record pertaining to the allegations in his custody and studying the records , besides meeting different sections of the NIT “.

He said, “ Till now Dr Sahsbudhe has met all senior Professors  and Associate Professors of the institute , all faculty members appointed before 2018 before joining of former director Prof. Vinod Yadav , and all faculty members and Assistant Professors appointed during the tenure of the former director , against whom allegations of irregularities in appointment have  been leveled .”

“The AICTE Chairman has also talked to former Director Prof. Yadav for an hour, members of administrative staff and students of the institute ; he has been talking to cross section of people in the institute online and meeting them directly and would submit a report to HRD ministry after completing the probe, “ he added.

The probe in the allegations against former director of the institute been initiated by Ministry of HRD after the allegations were highlighted by a section of employees and Sujanpur Congress MLA Rajender Rana.

Rajender Rana has consistently  been alleging “irregularities and favouritism in recruitment of Assistant Professors (APs) and other faculty position during the tenure of former director and taken up this matter with Prime Minister Narender  Modi, HRD Minister and  Chairman of Board of Governors of NIT.

Hamirpur MP and Minister of state for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur had also met HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhryal demanding inquiry in the charges.

The HRD ministry looks quite serious about the allegations against the former director and had stripped him from the post and given additional charge to Director of NIT Jallandhar Prof. Lalit Awasthi, besides entrusting the job of probing the allegations to high ranking AICTE chairman.
