Mandi DC Rugved Thakur getting national award at New Delhi on Friday

Mandi district has once again been awarded at national level for ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign. This award has been given to the district for its brilliant implementation of this campaign and various activities undertaken to create awareness for promoting birth and education of girl child.

Mandi DC Rugved Thakur received the award at the national level from Women and Child Development Minister Samriti Irani in a ceremony held at New Delhi on Friday.  Mandi district has been awarded for this campaign for the second time as the district was awarded for effective community participation under Beti Bachao – Beti Padhao programme  also earlier in January 2019.

DC Mandi Rugved Thakur has congratulated people of the district for this magnificent achievement and said Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign in the district has been successful in creating mass movement with people’s support.

He said through this campaign the district has taken a major stride in checking gender imbalance, create awareness about girl education and sensitize people about health and security concerns of girls.  

Lauding efforts of PRI representatives, health and anganwadi workers, school managements, mahila mandals, youth clubs and religious organizations the DC said many people besides the above mentioned organizations have played very important role in this campaign.

He said programmes like kanya poojan, celebrating birth of a girl child, honouring their parents in public functions, planting a sapling on the birth of a girl child and raising gardens in the name of girls were some of the means through which this campaign was taken effectively among people at grass root level.
